Bringing Dignity and Hope: The Work of Sanstha Nandurbar for People Living with HIV/AIDS

Since December 2006, Network of by People Living with HIV/AIDS, Sanstha Nandurbar, has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of people affected by HIV in the Nandurbar district. Run by individuals who have lived the experience themselves, the organization is not just a service provider — it’s a support system, a voice, and a home for many.

Our goal is clear: to improve the quality of life for Positive People Living with HIV/AIDS. This mission is rooted in community, care, and commitment. The organization doesn’t stop at health — it reaches into mental, social, and economic well-being. From rest house treatment centers (Visava Kendras) to counseling, from access to government welfare schemes like Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana to helping individuals become financially self-reliant — every initiative is taken with heart.

One of the most impactful projects, the Vihaan Care and Support Center, has been operating since 2013 and offers a wide range of services such as home visits, counseling, nutrition support, medical linkages, and advocacy. The team works directly with clients, ensuring no one is left behind — even personally delivering ART medicine to LFU clients in need.

But beyond the medical side, Sanstha Nandurbar also brings the community together. Awareness programs, school and college de-addiction campaigns, nutrition and education support for orphaned children, and rallies or exhibitions all aim to change perceptions and bring empathy where it’s needed most.

It’s not just an NGO. It’s a movement built on lived experience, run by people who know the path because they’ve walked it. And every single day, they continue walking it — not alone, but together, with the people they serve.
